GENE is an acronym for 

Grupo de Estudos em Nutrição Experimental e Metabolismo*, 

which is Portuguese for "Experimental Nutrition and Metabolism Study Group".

The team combines a diverse and multidisciplinary group of professionals, all commited to study different topics in food science and nutrition, investigating links between food intake and health promotion.

The group's activities go beyond the lab walls, and its members are involved in knowledge sharing through extension activities and debates of innovative ideas. Innovation is a key word, and it is a constant pursuit in our projects and activities. New concepts, methods, and challenging approaches are the life and blood of our activities.
